About the Team:
The Legal team is responsible for all of World’s legal affairs globally. We partner cross-company to help advance the blockchain project, improve our products (hardware device, wallet app, and Proof of Personhood), and ensure regulatory compliance in areas such as securities, AML/CFT, consumer protection, privacy, litigation, trade, IP, and labor, among others.
About the Opportunity:
This is a unique opportunity to help shape a high-profile project sitting at the interaction of several emerging fields. You will be instrumental in defining and executing our approach to the full range of privacy and security legal considerations in the APAC region. This position will partner closely with our expansion and market operations teams and will also develop close working relationships with our central teams responsible for product development, trust & safety, logistics, product, communications, marketing, and government relations.
In this role, you will:
Respond to and manage privacy related regulatory investigations.
Maintain subject matter expertise in areas of global privacy and digital laws, including regulatory focus areas and guidance.
Develop and lead privacy strategy for jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction entry decisions and meeting ongoing support needs, including by proactively solving processes and other problems for the business as they execute an ambitious growth plan.
Secure and relay advice on data protection threshold risks and requirements for entering new markets and rolling out new product developments in the region.
Manage local counsel in the market to secure clear, actionable input efficiently and cost-effectively.
Develop and localize resources and tools that enable counsel across the company to provide durable and consistent advice on privacy issues.
Collaborate with legal counterparts focused on product, privacy, compliance, corporate, and financial regulatory to ensure new initiatives are vetted against local privacy requirements.
Help ensure we deliver consistent, accurate messaging and materials to key stakeholders, authorities, local courts, and users in general.
Develop a deep understanding of our strategies around product, economics, trust and safety, corporate matters, policy, and communications, and play a key role in pulling these together to provide practical advice in each jurisdiction.
Proactively contribute to the Legal team‘s planning, cohesion, consistency in advice and the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
About you:
5+ years of post-law school experience working as an attorney, with solid BigLaw experience and/or fast-paced startups.
Hands-on and creative problem-solver, who understands on-the-ground complexities and is passionate about building scalable ways to account for them.
Must have excellent academic credentials and be a qualified lawyer in good standing in the APAC region.
Previous experience supporting multi-jurisdictional legal challenges.
Experience developing and successfully providing legal support for international growth plans, assessing privacy regulatory and legal requirements and developing a plan for successful execution.
Capable of defining an agenda and ensuring it gets done on time and efficiently, along the way demonstrating judgment, practicality, resourcefulness, proactivity, and attention to detail.
Extensive experience living, working, traveling, or practicing law internationally and the ability to travel regularly is preferred.
Fluency in English.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proven project management skills with experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
A proactive and collaborative team player with a positive attitude and sense of humor.
The reasonably estimated salary for this role at TFH ranges from 265,500 - 300,000 SGD, plus a competitive long term incentive package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
